Analog Impermanence
2022
The HOS-050 is a high-speed wide bandwidth video operational amplifier produced by chip manufacturer Analog Devices in the 1970s. These discrete transistor devices are from a long-gone age of circuit design, yet they’re still in production. They are displayed in a ceramic vessel, also technology developed in the distant past.
These specific HOS-050 op amps were left over from a video synthesizer project at the Rensselaer Polytech Video Synthesis Lab. Still in their original package, I discovered them after moving into our new home. The ceramic was created by my wife, Shellie Winkler. She hates it so I was able to requestion it. This is a single edition.
